Max Lucado joins Covenant for Civility

Well known author Max Lucado has placed his name on the Covenant for Civility. Who, after all, can argue against such a document, which calls for an end to mean-spirited debate and rancor?

Had this truly been a secular document, there would be no problem. Unfortunately, this document is presented in spiritual terms. It begins with Psalm 133:1: “How good and pleasant it is when the people of God live together in unity.”

The document then states, “As Christian pastors and leaders…”

The Covenant for Civility also refers to “the unity we have in the Body of Christ.”

Incredibly, the agreement also includes a pledge there be “no questioning of the other’s faith…”

Yet Brian McLaren, who rejects the Biblical Christ, is one of the signatories…

The rest is here @ mywordlikefire.wordpress.com.

From ED: The covenant is the latest in a series of faith-based efforts to soften the public discourse. Prominent evangelical PR executive Mark DeMoss, a conservative, and former Bill Clinton aide Lanny Davis launched the Civility Project last year.

  1. Things just keep gettin’ curiouser and curiouser… as the line from the old movie said.

I noticed on the page of the Covenant of Civility it has the verse from Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when the people of God live together in unity.

The problem is this: ecumenical group hugs are not representative of the people of God. God’s elect are separate from others who want to have a spiritual warm, cozy feeling every now and again. And unless “diverse Theological beliefs” means something differnet than the normal, reasonable meaning then I doubt the validity of all of the signers as being part of God’s kingdom (unless recently saved of course).

The problem with this type of ecumenical koom-by-ya deal is that the implied meaning is that signer are comitting not to disagree at all, ever. Once this is established as the functioning norm, then heresy and half-baked Theology is off to the races.

I wonder if any of the signers has read the New Testament? God is very clear that we are to contend for the faith (which assumes by its language that it will be necessary to do so). It also says to avoid heretics and false religion promoters. It never says to sign a pact with people of “diverse Theological beliefs” and promise to never condend for the faith… Pa-leeeeese people! Read God’s Book!

    • The fruit of these types of signings though the years has led to what most everyone is saying and doing. Love and peace and unity….at all cost. Everytime I turn around I read someone (on Reformed sites) either mocking those who call for separation, (mocking Scripture, really) or there are the ones that are saying all must be said and done in this ‘new’ kind of love….They make it a point to bring this ‘new’ love up whenever possible….although they call it Biblical, ‘Jesus love’. Having fallen for the new – new ecumenical push, they think they are doing God a favor (and themselves and others). Anyone that talks ‘hard’ is to be dismissed as unloving and and too ‘stoopid’ to understand. A lot of the big sites that are calling for this new love, while talking about it at the front door are leading people onto the wrong road through the back door. Nuff said about that.
When someone signs one of the documents of ‘koom-by-ya’, they have signed on to the whole enchilada. No use in saying, turning around and telling people, ‘Oh, I just signed because I liked ‘this’ part”. (like some people have) Nope, by signing, you’ve read all and agreed to all and made a pact to actively promote all. (says that in the documents)…you know this Truthy, just saying this for others that might read this.
Anyway, yes things sure are getting curiouser and curiouser as we see all of this being played out.
You’re right when you say, “ecumenical group hugs are not representative of the people of God. God’s elect are separate from others…….” Amen.

  2. I know Max Lucado and that fraud has been involved in literal criminal activity on behalf of Rome and the Vatican.

No Christian should have anything to do with this man.

I am talking major criminal activity. I
t is tantamount to crimes against humanity.

He sits in a pulpit. Surprise – I have found out the hard way the modern “so called” Christian Church in America is filled with literal felons. NO – It is that serious.

I thought Pastors were supposed to be men of good character? I know that many in the Christian Community know about these crimes – oh they are involved also.

If they want to raise a fuss – Hey institute a law suit against me for slander.

    They won’t dare.

Trust Me – Time is on my side.

    This, this ends,.

I wind up on top and those criminals should give up their pulpits. It’s the right thing to do.

Time – It’s on my side

    Take it to the bank

Max – Call keep in touch.

    Signing Out,

    Furious
    I am not amused

There will literally be hell to pay
    There is zero other option
